The Moncur Aberdeen Angus Herd was founded in 1992 by Mark Taylor. Netherton Frances was purchased for his 18th birthday for 4,500 gns. In the following year another 3 Aberdeen Angus Heifers were purchased. These 4 animals were the foundation females of the Moncur Herd. One heifer, Edwina 2nd of Monkwood, purchased at the Monkwood Dispersal Sale was a granddaughter of Newhouse Edwina 112th a cow from Marks Grandfather’s Herd at Newhouse of Glamis. Top quality bulls and semen have been used on this herd from the outset and the total herd now numbers some 70 animals.

The Taylor Family have farmed in the Carse of Gowrie in Perthshire for four generations, since 1927. Their farming enterprises include growing potatoes and cereals and breeding pure Aberdeen Angus Cattle.
